Dr. Somporn Suebthawilkul, Chairman of the Thai Insurance Business Council and President of the Thai General Insurance Association, together with the Executive Committee, advisors, and executives of member companies, attended the 2nd Insurance Executives Meeting (OIC Meets CEO 2026) together with the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC), the Thai Life Assurance Association, the Thai Insurance Brokers Association, and the Life Insurance Agents and Financial Advisors Association. Senior executives from both non-life and life insurance companies took part in discussions and exchanged views to strengthen confidence in Thailand’s insurance industry, build a resilient and robust insurance system ready to cope with emerging risks, and drive the development of the insurance business in line with economic, social, technological changes and global risk situations. Mr. Chuchat Pramoonpol, Secretary-General of the OIC, chaired the meeting, held on 28 May 2026 at the Royal Thai Army Club (Vibhavadi).
At the meeting, the Thai General Insurance Association also shared the non-life insurance industry’s views on key issues affecting the industry’s direction, including upgrading the regulatory system to align with new risk contexts, preparing for catastrophic risks, and developing mechanisms for managing industry-wide disasters and large-scale risks, so that the industry can operate stably and efficiently and support the role of the insurance system as national risk management infrastructure, in line with the direction of the 5th Insurance Development Plan.
In addition, the Association helped push forward approaches to raising public confidence in the non-life insurance business, through developing service standards, claims consideration and payment, reducing disputes and complaints, and promoting the responsible use of data and technology, such as data connectivity, driving electronic policies, and developing a higher-quality insurance data system. The Association stands ready to serve as a mechanism for coordinating cooperation between the OIC, member companies, and related sectors, to help drive key measures into concrete results and strengthen the long-term stability and sustainability of Thailand’s non-life insurance industry.
